Who Should Consider the Quantitative Faecal Immunochemical Test (QFIT)?
Individuals being screened for bowel (colorectal) cancer. Those with changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss, or iron deficiency anaemia where a lower GI source is suspected.
qFIT is specific for lower gastrointestinal bleeding and does not react to dietary blood (unlike the older guaiac test). A positive result warrants further investigation, typically colonoscopy.
